Akron was founded in December 1825 and
became incorporated as a village in 1835 and as a city in
1865. The city is located in Summit County in northeastern
part of Ohio. It is the 81st largest city in the US, with
an estimated population of about 217,074. Akron city lies
alongside the Ohio and Erie Canal and on the western end of
the Pennsylvania and Ohio Canals. Akron is regarded as one
of the "High-Tech cities" for being a place for research and development of polymers.
The city has won several awards , a few of which includes; City Livability Award
and All-American City award.
